The multiplication of disciples among the least, last, and lost in Indonesia.
Mission Indonesia
Jesus was moved with compassion for both the spiritual and physical needs of people, and He took concrete action to address them. In the same way, we want to love our neighbors and make people His disciples, in word and deed.
Mission Indonesia is part of the Frontline Mission work of YWAM (Youth with a Mission / Jeugd met een Opdracht) in Indonesia and represents it in the Netherlands. We are a team that originated from YWAM Heidebeek and have been living and working in Indonesia since 2013.
Our motto is to know God and make Him known. Our desire is to be disciples of Jesus, which means loving God and following Him in whatever He asks of us. This motivates us to love others and share the gospel with the unreached people groups of Indonesia.
Within our network in Indonesia, there are 6 teams working in various locations and islands. Most of these teams are made up of Indonesian missionaries, and while some are just starting out, others are already seeing much fruit.
Reach the Unreached
God is looking for people who are willing to go to places where His gospel has not yet reached. Are you ready to go and make His love and grace known to all people? Then we challenge you to join Mission Indonesia! Together with your team, you will live in Indonesia. From Heidebeek, you will receive the support you need in your preparations. Once you arrive in Indonesia, you will start by learning the language. You can join us for the long term or initially for a year to discover what God has in store for you afterward.
Wana tribe
In a remote area on Sulawesi, Indonesia, a team is helping the Wana tribe through education, evangelism, and economic initiatives. They teach children how to read, write, and do math, while also sharing the Gospel, resulting in over 5,000 people coming to faith. They support the local population in growing crops such as cacao and coconuts, improving their economic situation.
Small-scale schools and healthcare projects have been established, and seven other projects and churches are largely operating independently. The project focuses on strengthening the tribe through education, leadership training, and the development of local pastors. The goal is to empower the Wana people to sustainably continue their future. The work is supported by a foundation that aids in spreading the Gospel and community development.
Project Levend Water
In Indonesia, the water quality is poor, with tap water and well water often contaminated, with fecal bacteria being the primary pollutants. The lack of clean drinking water leads to serious health issues, including diarrhea, which is the leading cause of death in children under five years old. Every year, 100,000 babies die from diarrhea, especially in impoverished communities that lack access to clean water.
The Living Water project offers a sustainable solution by distributing water filters, produced in the Netherlands and distributed by local staff. These filters improve water quality and are paired with hygiene education. This not only provides access to clean drinking water but also creates an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus.
Adopt a Worker
Indonesian missionaries play a crucial role in reaching groups that are difficult for foreign missionaries to access due to language and cultural barriers. However, providing for their livelihood is often a challenge, as their network of churches, family, and friends may not always be able to provide sufficient financial support. This financial shortage can cause stress and hinder their mission, even though their living expenses are relatively low.
Adopt a Worker offers support to these missionaries, and you can help by becoming partners in the harvest with them. For security reasons, the missionaries are not presented online, but you can request a brochure by sending an email to adoptaworker@ywam.nl.
