A place nearby for women
LUZ
LUZ was created to provide women with refugee status a place where they can meet other women in their community, learn to speak Dutch in a relaxed setting, hear (Bible) stories and engage in creative activities.
Refugee women long for connection, a place nearby where they feel welcome and can form attachments. Attachment brings healing. Even with a residence permit, there is still a significant journey to be made before refugees feel at home in the Netherlands. We aim to create a safe, open meeting place for women where they can learn Dutch in a relaxed environment and hear (Bible) stories.
About LUZ
LUZ Epe has been providing a welcoming space for women with refugee or migrant backgrounds to practice Dutch and build friendships for 10 years. It began on September 27, 2013, with two women meeting in a living room, led by Alita Vos and Karin Weber from Youth with a Mission Heidebeek. The initiative quickly grew, and within a year, LUZ moved to the Regenboogkerk, where they continue to meet every Friday morning. Over the past 10 years, more than 50 women have participated in LUZ. The team now consists of six woman. LUZ offers more than language lessons—it provides a supportive community where women can celebrate life, discuss faith, and share different cultures. LUZ has also expanded with groups in different places in the region, with hopes of growing further.
Meeting Days
We regularly organize meeting days for anyone who is reaching out or wants to reach out to refugee women or other migrant women. A meeting day will be a time for exchanging experiences, inspiration, and encouragement. During this day, you will receive input on cultural differences and how to share God's story with women from non-Western cultures in your neighbourhood or town.
