Discipleship Training Schools take place all over the world and are a wonderful means to get to know God better and to make Him known. Our DTS with the focus on Mercy Ministries and Justice will contain all of this and more!
During the lecture phase, the first three months of the school, we will cover the regular DTS topics like Character of God, Discipleship, Hearing God’s Voice as well as our focus: Mercy & Justice. As a school we want to discover God’s heart for people in need and those who are oppressed, and to hear from Him what plans He has for us to reach out to others with His Love and Justice.
The outreach phase will be a cross-cultural experience with a good taste of Mercy and Justice Ministries and an opportunity to practice what you’ve learned during the lecture phase. The heart of this outreach is to make God known. We wish to reach out to the oppressed and those in need with the desire to bring hope and to show God’s love and compassion.
DTS is not just a training, gap year or bible school, it’s your first step within missions.
The Mercy & Justice DTS is a school that focuses on “Knowing God and making Him known through Mercy Ministry and Justice projects!
This Mercy & Justice DTS is different from regular DTS schools. The Mercy & Justice DTS will use all kind of forms of Mercy Ministries to show God’s love to the people.
The first three months is the lecture phase. You ‘ll have lectures covering subjects such as: Merciful Character of God, Identity, Holy Spirit, Hearing God’s voice, Relationships, Spiritual warfare, etc. Different teachers from different nations, who have experience in the area of Mercy & Justice, will come and teach in the school.
Matthew 25 : 37-40, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
For this special focus DTS we are looking for students with a heart for the Lord and a heart for Mercy & Justice. So if you are eager to use your hands and feet to help people in need and to seek God’s Justice for their situation, this Mercy & Justice DTS is for you!
The outreach is meant to give the students a cross- cultural experience, a good taste of Mercy & Justice and an opportunity to practice what they learned during the lecture phase. It’s not always easy, but God is merciful and you’ll learn a lot about Him, from Him and from others!
Locations Mercy & Justice DTS 2017:
As YWAM Heidebeek we have a focus on Indonesia. Therefore one of the outreach locations will be Indonesia. 90 % of the people of Indonesia are Muslim, that means that Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim community. A lot of people have never heard about Jesus. It is also a country with a big contrast between rich and poor, especially in the cities where there are a lot of slums. In Indonesiawe will have a great opportunity to reach out to those in need, to strengthen the Christians there and to share Gods love with people who don’t know Him.
For the other outreach location we are still praying.

I was struggling for a long time with the injustice on earth and which part God takes in it. During the DTS I got a new perspective of God’s goodness and his heart for the people. I didn’t get the answers to all my questions, but I got even more: Gods plan for my life and how he wants to use me in and for this world.
Tim, Germany, Mercy & Justice DTS 2015
On my DTS I experienced what God will do, in your darkest moments, when you trust in Him and allow Him to be in complete control. Run to Him always! He’ll be there waiting.
Kelli Ann, USA, Mercy & Justice 2015
During my DTS I’ve learned a lot about the world, God and myself. I have discovered that God has a greater and more beautiful plan for my life than I could ever think of.

After I’ve seen heart breaking poverty in Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa before, God confirmed several times during my DTS that He want’s to use me to fight injustice. When I was younger I had no dreams. Now God has given me a dream and the vision to fight injustice in the clothing industry. Fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Proverbs 31:8,9

A Discipleship Training School is a life shaping and direction altering experience! God’s presence in both challenge and encouragement is tangible and inspiring. The context that this happens in is so important. Great speakers, great atmosphere and a staff team that takes the journey with you. These are all areas where Heidebeek shines out. It was (and is) a fantastic place to draw near to God, be encouraged in your missions vision, and learn what it means to live for Jesus. The support of the whole Heidebeek community contributes to the experience in a special way!
Hopebuilders International, Australia
I had the privilege to teach for many years in different DTS’s at Heidebeek, which I enjoyed a lot. There is a nice, open, lovely and hospitable atmosphere in the school. Because I always was very positive and passionate about Heidebeek, both of my daughters did their DTS there. It’s been a life-changing experience for them both. That’s why I recommend the DTS at Heidebeek.
Pastor Shelter Haarlem, The Netherlands
Having taught in Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) for almost 30 years, I’ve witnessed firsthand what God can do in the lives of hungry hearts. I’ve seen young and old transformed by the power of God, by His revelation and by the work of the Holy Spirit. Months spent away from home seeking God often in a cross culture environment is a huge challenge, an amazing step of faith and can be quite a sacrifice. But our Heavenly Father does not disappoint. When Jesus touches lives, those lives are never the same.
My significant time spent at YWAM, Heidebeek has proven to me time and time again that this is a special place with a special team of leaders and staff. They are fully devoted to the discipleship of DTS students. I highly recommend Heidebeek as a perfect choice for a DTS. Their attention to detail and organization makes for a wonderful experience. But it is their passion for the Lord that is truly contagious and filters down into every aspect of the DTS. And as a bonus the Dutch culture is exciting and the beauty of Holland is breath taking.
Please pray specifically about YWAM Heidebeek as your destination for a DTS.
YWAM / DTS Speaker
Johan and I did our DTS on Heidebeek back in 1980 and it completely turned our lives upside down. We learned a lot from as well lectures in the classroom (from great international speakers), but also outside of the classroom. We learned from experienced missionaries and were taken by the hand and challenged to obey God. That was only the start of our 32 years within YWAM. We are truly privileged to be a part of the YWAM family worldwide and we really advice you to pray to follow a DTS at YWAM Heidebeek. To get to know God (better) and make Him known!
