Refugee women long for connection, a place nearby where they are welcome and can enter into relationship. Connection brings recovery.
Even with a permit to stay, there is still a long way to go before refugees feel at home in The Netherlands. We want to create a safe, open meeting place for women where they have an opportunity to learn and speak Dutch in a relaxed way and listen to (bible) stories.
Luz is the place in the Bible where a fleeing Jacob unexpectedly met God and was blessed. He named the place Bethel, which means House of God. LUZ is a place on a journey to meet God and to be blessed. LUZ in Spanish means “Light”.
Are you a woman with a heart for foreigners in your neighborhood? Would you like to invest to see these women blossom? We want to inspire and support you in the development of a LUZ-group in your hometown.
Meet the Staff
Hi! since 2010 i work within Heidebeek to build on a focus on refugees. We started in 2014 international womangroup LUZ.
Hi, I am Karin. In 1987 I did my DTS in Amsterdam and I worked there as staff till 1995. Then I came to Heidebeek. The last 13 years I worked with the Biblical Study Center and part of my ministry was Biblestorytelling for adults. Now I work with the M & J dept. I work with the womensgroup LUZ which is focussing on refugee- and other migrant women. In this setting I also tell Biblestories.
I am Marleen Pruim. I was born in 1983 and I work since 2007 at Heidebeek. That's also where I met my husband, Stefan. Together we have 2 beautiful kids (Jaron/2013 and Mattias/2015). I'm very thankful for our beautiful family. I work at the accounting department and I'm involved with LUZ. My heart is that Heidebeek will be a blessing to many people!
