engage and prepare for effective Christian living and ministry in unreached locations
Intro
“Frontier Missions Extension Studies Online” (FMX) is an unique training program that gives you opportunity to engage and prepare for effective Christian living and ministry in unreached locations. You will develop strategies and tools that equip you to serve in the mission field.
Content delivery
FMX is custom designed for online delivery. A very high priority is that it is dynamic and interactive and directly applicable to life on the mission field.
FMX consists of 12 modules: 7 interactive and 5 self-directed. Each module contains approximately 25-30 hours of engagement with the study material. This includes the presentation of the subject matter, processing, personal study, reading and homework.
The 7 interactive modules consist of 1 week where we meet and study together online for 3hrs per day. They also contain 10 hours of homework outside of the class which is due the following week.
Note: online classes are repeated each day in order to accommodate different time-zones.
The 5 self-directed modules are guided learning where you have a month to complete the particular topic of study according to your own schedule. You will meet during these modules for Discovery Bible Study once a week.
Modules 1, 2 and 12 Class A: 09:15 – 12:15 (UTC +2) Class B: 15:30 – 18:30 (UTC +2)
Modules 4, 6, 8 and 10: Class A: 09:15 – 12:15 (UTC +1) Class B: 15:30 – 18:30 (UTC +1)
Minimum of 10 students per class.
Totalling 12 units of study over 7 months.
I believe I’m better equipped to be a more effective and healthy mission worker because I have greater knowledge and skills in Self Care, and Member Care, how to balance ministry & life, and to have more realistic expectations of myself and others. I also have a healthier understanding of suffering and sacrifice, and the challenges of living cross-culturally. I have been living cross-culturally for many years (19!), but now moving to a new different culture brings different challenges and areas to grow in.
Susan - Democratic Republic Congo
FMX provided me with information that I would have not thought about. It helped me think critically beyond the obvious and gave me tools that are applicable in different situations. In other words it made “counting the cost” a practical process for me. The course also introduced me to many vital themes and ideas that are worth pursuing even after the course finishes so I can be further equipped for the mission field.
Kevin – South Africa
There were subjects which I didn't know quite well, especially in regard to persecutions. Another thing was about the importance of prayer, prayer walks and how to strategically pray.
Sam - Uganda
I wish I had done the FMX at the beginning of my missionary career. I am definitely more fueled with passion and equipped with knowledge compared to before.
Airi - Japan
The FMX helped me to understand the complexity of mission work much more. The job of ‘missionary’ is one of the most challenging ones in the world. To equip people to be the best they can be is very rewarding and I expect great fruit.
Hans - Netherlands
I think FMX is very encouraging for people who are ready to go to the mission field (abroad or in their home country) because with all the lectures we had, we know what we could be facing, we know what we can be going through and we know how we can prepare .
Devi - Indonesia
FMX helped me to think through a lot of different areas of life and service. I appreciated the resources, insight, and experiences that were shared. Also, the course helped to point out what areas I am lacking and need more support in.
Elizabeth - Nepal
As I have been on the mission field for over 10 years now, I learnt a lot “on the job.” But I did not receive any training like this up to this point, I feel the FMX helped solidify good things I’m already doing, as well as get me to think about different ways that could be helpful moving forward. This course would be especially fruitful for new missionaries and I wish I had this 10 years ago!
John – Japan
There were a lot of teachings that made me more aware of my own culture and cultures that I want to reach out to. Contextualisation helped a lot. But also the member care teachings were really good. Having more understanding about ministries and what is missions is great.
Josiphine - India
I feel more confident now after being part of the FMX to go on into the field with the knowledge I gained.
Anna - Turkey
