Topics
God’s nature and character – encountering God
Through things like reading the scriptures, prayer, worship, and devotional time, we want you to understand all aspects of God such as His holiness, faithfulness, His father heart, mercy and grace. This topic will take your whole lifetime to cover, but you the intent is learn, grow and discover now already. Our desire is that you’ll meet Him and discover who He really is. Developing a deeper relationship with Him.
Hearing the voice of God
Yes, God still speaks! Everyone hears God in a way that is unique to them. We desire for you to hear God and be able to follow all that He speaks to us through the Word, prayer and other ways.
The purpose of God’s redemption through the Cross – recognizing Jesus as Lord
God has a powerful plan for your life and it has already been set in motion through his sacrifice on the cross. We want you to understand the full meaning of the cross and redemption though His sacrifice so you can start to realize just how much God cares for all His children
Spiritual warfare & intercession
We believe that God has called us to pray and to intercede for people and the world in need. By intercession you bring a change, it is powerful. Once a week as a base we also pray together.
Evangelism and missions
Knowing God and making Him known – A primary goal at YWAM is to spread the gospel. We’ll teach you about mission and how you can evangelise. Besides this you learn also how to do this practically. Beside the outreach, some schools also go out for evangelism during lecture phase.
Discovering God’s purpose for your life
Yes, your life has purpose! We will help you discover your unique gifts that the Lord has blessed you with so you can effectively fulfill His calling for your life. This is what it’s all about! Learning who you are in Him, and how you can use your gifts for Him.
Outreach
The second half of the DTS is the outreach, a three month of field trip. This is a trip to another country in order to put into practice the things you’ve been learning in the lecture phase. It’s the ‘making God known’ part. Sharing Jesus with people in a country you’ve probably never been before.
During the lecture phase outreach teams will be formed and there will be time to prepare the teams for their evangelism trip. Like learning drama, dances, teambuilding and learning how to share your testimony.
Each outreach is different depending on where you go. Your ministry will transform to meet the needs of the local situations, but there will always be a focus on evangelism.
In the past years we’ve had outreaches in places like: Greenland, Iceland, Indonesia, Ukrain, Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia and China.
Open Day
During the Open Day and Open Week of the of the Discipleship Training School (DTS) you join the students who do a DTS.
